979-CT Pea & Broad Bean Harvester

First introduced in 1989 the 979 has been continually improved and updated each year to the current model, the 979-CT.

The six-wheel drive machine has a climate controlled cabin and powered by a 300Kw turbo charged inter-cooled diesel engine. Picking width options are either 3.3 or 3.8 metres.

The standard machine can harvest green peas, borlotto beans and flageolets. Broad beans can also be harvested with the addition of a separate picking kit.

As an alternative to the standard six-wheel configuration the 979-CT can be fitted with tracks to meet the needs of harvesting in particularly difficult soil conditions. The ClaasTerraTrac™ system is a well proven and reliable design.

How does it work?

The tines on the rotating picking reel strip off the pods and part of the vine and transfer to the threshing drum by a series of conveyors. The pods are opened by our unique five-beater threshing system with its gentle but efficient throughput, delivering high capacity with minimum damage. During the discharge and sieving process further cleaning is performed by two powerful fans to ensure a consistent high quality clean pea sample is delivered to the hopper.
